Welcome to the official Web site for Tigercon 2009!
Tigercon is a FREE one-day anime convention on September 26 in the University Union on the campus of Towson University. Want to register? Click here! Everybody who registers is entered to win a pair of tickets to see "Eureka Seven ~good night, sleep tight young lovers~" at AMC Owings Mills on September 24!
Due to overwhelming response, the Artist Alley is full, so registration is now closed. Thanks to everybody who signed up. If you applied and never got an email back from us, let us know.
As promised, here's something special for everybody who registers.
We've partnered with Fathom Events to give two lucky winners each a pair of tickets to see "Eureka Seven: good night, sleep tight, young lovers" on September 24 at AMC Owings Mills. Just register by September 12 and if you win, we'll hook you up!
Want to do a fan panel at Tigercon? Click the events tab and send us an email with the info!
Also, we have instituted a cutoff for artists and vendors: August 31 or when all spaces are filled. We'll let you know when that happens, but in any case, get those applications in ASAP.
Finally, Tigercon can't happen without help (or severe damage to our staff's collective sanity). That's why we're calling on volunteers. Email us and we'll pass your name along to our volunteers head.
Welcome to those just finding our website after Otakon, and thanks to all who dropped by our table! Remember to register to let us know you're coming. Not mandatory, just nice.
Directions page has been updated for minor updates and hotel info for out-of-towners.
Last, but certainly not least, two new guests to announce -- Towson chiptune artist Ten Elevenths and video game cover band Rare Candy. Also, we're pleased to announce Lucas Park will again warm up the crowd in Paws for our three epic performances. And we're not done yet...
Cosplay and masquerade rules and forms have been updated.
Masquerade registration (see events page) and convention pre-registration (look up) are now online. Convention registration is not mandatory, but we will try to get something special for those of you who let us know they're coming.
Masquerade rules are up on the events page. Registration coming soon.
The Guests page has been updated with a hot new description for Super Art Fight and our returning guests, Marty Day and Nick Borkowicz! Also, Towson Anime will have a table in the Alley at Otakon 2009. Drop by. While we won't have cookies, we will have art by our house artists, includng Mykeal Spivey (the mind behind our tiger) and Brandon Chan, he of the many props.
Attention all cosplayers! Tigercon is looking for a qualified judge to help with this year's hall costume and masquerade contests! Due to unforeseen complications, one of last year's judges is unable to return in 2009. If you are interested, please send your name, contact information and a brief explanation as to why you may be qualified to our cosplay coordinator at tigerconcosplay@gmail.com.
And for those interested in participating, rules, regulations and forms for the hall costume and masquerade contests will be online shortly. Thank you!
We are, as the splash page here for the last couple months so subtly implied, BACK. The guest page has both new and old faces. The artist alley is open. If you emailed us, you are on the list.
Progamming will be coming together over the summer. If you have panel ideas, email us.
Thanks for coming! Estimated attendance count is over 350. Woot! Special thanks to CAB, Asian Arts and Culture Center, TUGO, everybody in Towson Anime, and all our guests, artists, and volunteers who helped make Tigercon awesome. We heard mostly good things from people on the ground, but if anybody has any particular events you'd kill to keep or, on the flipside, anything we could have done better, shoot an email to our con chair.
Also, a message from our cosplay team...
Due to the fact that not all of the winners were present at the Cosplay Contest announcement, here is a list of the remaining awards:
Best Group/Duo Cosplay:
Sarah and Lucia Bewakici
for their Okami cosplays
Judge's Award - Best Character Portrayal:
Sheldon Zamora-Soon
for his One Piece cosplay
Judge's Award - Best Closet Cosplay:
Mary Keeney
for her Resident Evil 4 cosplay
Judge's Award - Sweet Awesome Details Award:
Luna Truong
for her Vampire Knight cosplay
The judges would like to thank everyone for participating. We saw high-caliber cosplay throughout the day and we regret not being able to give everyone an award of their own. We hope to expand the cosplay programming and to see everyone looking their absolute best next Tigercon.
-DeAnna Tucker, Alex Li, and Carrie Wood
